JUNGIAN LECTURE: Title: No Method: The Radical Nature of Jungian Psychology
by John Hoedl, CCC, MA
Jung’s psychology is informed by his understanding of “soul,” which, in today’s world, is considered “radical”.
Jung’s experiences and theoretical insights into the human soul led him to be suspicious of treating patients according to any specific theoretical system, including his own, as doing so may result in the system taking precedence over the patient. He argued that “Theories were the very devil!” This lecture explores Jung’s ideas about psychology and the soul, why his perspective made him wary of theoretical traps, and how his views made his psychology truly and radically about the “soul”.
